7 Iftar Activities You Can Do
2024.03.19

Waiting for iftar time is often a long process, especially when your stomach starts to sound hungry and it's not yet time to break your fast. But don't worry, there are plenty of activities you can do to make your time more rewarding.

Here are seven activities that you can try while waiting to break your fast:

1. Takjil Hunting

One of the activities that can be done while waiting to break the fast is hunting for takjil. Takjil are snacks or drinks that are usually eaten to fill the stomach before breaking the fast. There are usually many traders who sell various kinds of takjil along the streets or crowded places. The most sought-after takjil ranging from compote, fruit ice, dates, fried foods to various pastries can be an option to enjoy before the time to break the fast arrives.

2. Reading the Quran

Reading the Quran is a highly recommended ngabuburit activity in the month of Ramadan. When waiting for the time to break the fast, use the time to read the Quran. Apart from getting multiple rewards, reading the Quran can also calm your mind and strengthen your spiritual connection with Allah SWT.

3. Light Exercise

Although your body may feel tired or weak during fasting, doing light exercise such as walking or light gymnastics can be an option for activities waiting to break the fast. This light exercise can help maintain a healthy body and increase energy to welcome iftar.

4. Cooking the Iftar Menu

You don't always have to leave the house to have fun. For those who love to cook, waiting for iftar can be the perfect time to prepare an iftar menu. Start cooking since noon so that when iftar time comes, the dishes are ready to be eaten with your family. You can try cooking new and unique menus to make breaking the fast more enjoyable.

5. Watch a Fun Movie

To fill the time waiting for iftar in a relaxing way, watching a fun movie can be the right choice. Choose movies that are Islamic or have good moral messages to add blessings to the month of Ramadan.

6. Play Games

For those who love games, playing games can also be an alternative activity while waiting to break the fast. Whether it's traditional games, online games, or family games, playing games can be a fun way to pass the time. But make sure you don't neglect all your obligations while fasting.

7. Chat with Family

Finally, utilize the time waiting for iftar to chat and interact with your family. Discuss your experiences during fasting, share funny stories, or even talk about plans for activities together during Ramadan.

By doing the above activities, you can make better use of your time and wait for fasting without boredom. In addition, don't forget to always increase dhikr, prayer, and worship. May we all be blessed in the month of Ramadan this year. (Aq/LDS)
